DESCRIPTION:Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coffee Mornings for parents and carers of children with SEND\n\n\nBristol Parent Carer Forum hosts coffee mornings from schools for parent carers of children and young adults that have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). \nThere is no need to book but if you can\, that is helpful. Please come along for a chat with our volunteers and other families who “get it”.  We are happy to talk through any problems or issues you are facing over a nice cup of tea (or coffee!) and you can find out more information on what support is available locally for your child or a child you care for. \nIf you need additional support to access this coffee morning such as support with English or other adjustments\, please let us know. \nAn important role of the Parent Carer Forum is to hear about the experiences of parent carers in Bristol. We would like to hear from you about your experiences with SEND services so that we can be sure that your voice is heard and that we can shape the future of SEND services together.

While in the creche area parents/carers remain responsible for their child at all times. \nChildren without a crèche ticket are still welcome to attend\, but they must stay with their parent/carer throughout the session and can not access the creche area.

SUMMARY:Navigating Support in School Without an Education Health and Care Plan
DESCRIPTION:Support for your child in school\, who to speak to and what to expect\n\n\nWelcome to Navigating support in school without an EHCP. \nJoin Bristol Parent Carers and Alison Hendy. Alison has spent over 35 years working in education: firstly in primary schools as a SENCO\, school leader and Ofsted inspector and currently for Bristol City Council as the team leader for the Inclusive Learning Service. Alison is also the parent of two children\, one of whom has autism and ADHD and has considerable experience of working with education settings to ensure the best outcomes for both of her children. \nIn this session we will explore how schools can support children with SPecial Educational Needs and Disabilities .  \nThis session will not be recorded. \nIn this session\, we will cover: \n\nHow schools identify Special Educational Needs \nWhat schools can offer if your child does not have an Education\, Health and Care plan (EHCP)\nOrdinarily available provision and the graduated response\nQuestions like: What should be happening and when? Who should I talk to about my concerns and what should I do to support my child? will be answered in the session content. \n\nPlaces are free\, but if you’re able to make a small donation to help us continue offering free sessions to as many families as possible\, we’d be incredibly grateful. \n*Please note\, to attend this session you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council)\, or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. You must also have a child with Special Educational Needs\, but they do not need to have a diagnosis.
