SUMMARY:Brentry Primary School | SEND Coffee Morning | Anyone can attend
DESCRIPTION:Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coffee Mornings for parents and carers of children with SEND\n\n\nBristol Parent Carer Forum hosts coffee mornings from schools for parent carers of children and young adults that have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). \nThere is no need to book but if you can\, that is helpful. Please come along for a chat with our volunteers and other families who “get it”. We are happy to talk through any problems or issues you are facing over a nice cup of tea (or coffee!) and you can find out more information on what support is available locally for your child or a child you care for. \nIf you need additional support to access this coffee morning such as support with English or other adjustments\, please let us know. \nAn important role of the Parent Carer Forum is to hear about the experiences of parent carers in Bristol. We would like to hear from you about your experiences with SEND services so that we can be sure that your voice is heard and that we can shape the future of SEND services together.

SUMMARY:SEND Community session with BPC and MCT | East Bristol
DESCRIPTION:East Bristol SEND Global Majority Session\n\n\nWe’re delighted to host our friendly\, monthly SEND Community Session in partnership with Murmuration Community Therapy in East Bristol — a welcoming\, relaxed space for parent carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to connect\, unwind and feel supported. \nWhether you’re looking for a moment of calm\, and hoping to meet others who truly get it\, you’ll be met with warmth\, understanding and a community that’s here for you. \nAlthough the atmosphere is relaxed and informal\, we do ask that families book a free place via Eventbrite so we can manage numbers and make sure the space is comfortable for everyone. We also know that life as a SEND parent or carer can be unpredictable — if you book and then can’t make it\, please don’t worry. You’re always welcome to join us next time. \nAt each session\, our reps and other local families will be on hand for supportive conversation\, whether you’d like to chat about challenges\, share experiences\, or simply enjoy a quiet moment with others who understand. \nYou’ll often also find other local services joining us\, offering everything from carer support advice to information about events and opportunities in the area.

SUMMARY:Home to School Travel - Post 16
DESCRIPTION:Join Bristol Parent Carers and Bristol City Council as we discuss changes to Post 16 Home to School Travel\n\n\nWelcome to Home to School Travel – Post 16\, with Bristol Parent Carers and Bristol City Council. \nJoin us on \nMoving into post-16 education can be a big change\, and home to school transport often feels confusing and stressful. \nThis session explains how post-16 transport works in Bristol\, what support may be available\, and how families can navigate the process with confidence. We’ll talk through the application journey step by step\, explain who does what\, and share practical tips for avoiding common problems. \nThe focus is on clarity\, not jargon – so families know what to expect\, where to go for help\, and what to do if things don’t go to plan. \nThis session is suitable for parent carers\, schools\, colleges\, and professionals supporting young people into post-16 education. \nIn this session we will cover \n\nHow post-16 home to school transport works in Bristol\nWho is responsible for transport decisions and delivery\nThe difference between eligibility\, discretion and appeals\nThe main service providers involved in transport\nHow to apply\, what forms are used\, and when to apply\nWhat evidence is usually needed\nWhat to do if transport is delayed\, refused\, or not working\nWho to contact if there are problems or concerns\nWe’ll also share common issues families experience and what tends to help resolve them.\n\nPlaces are free\, but if you’re able to make a small donation to help us continue offering free sessions to as many families as possible\, we’d be incredibly grateful. \n*Please note\, to attend this session for free you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council)\, or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. SUMMARY:Glenfrome Primary School | SEND Coffee Morning | Anyone can attend

SUMMARY:Let's Talk About Resource Bases
DESCRIPTION:Share your views on Bristol’s Resource Bases\, from finding out information\, to asking for a place\, and attending a Resource Base\n\n\nWelcome to Let’s Talk About Resource Bases \nJoin Bristol Parent Carers and Bristol City Council online on Wednesday 13th May at 10am. \nResource Bases are specialist classrooms or units within mainstream schools. They support children and young people with Education\, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who need extra or different help. Children usually spend at least part of the day learning in the Resource Base and are supported by specialist staff. You can find out more about Bristol’s Resource Bases on this page of our website. \nSchools with Resource Bases in Bristol are: \nAshton Park School\, Blaise High School\, City Academy\, Compass Point Primary\, Easton CE Primary\, Fishponds Primary\, Glenfrome Primary\, Henbury Court Primary\, May Park Primary\, Oasis Academy Brislington\, Oasis Academy Long Cross\, Oasis Academy New Oak and Shirehampton Primary School. \nWe would like to invite you to our online session on Wednesday 13th May where we will be joined by Hilary Evans who leads the SEND Team in Bristol\, and Gabrielle Stacey who is leading a city-wide review of Resource Bases. Hilary will talk about our local Resource Bases and future plans for the city. Bristol Parent Carers will then lead a discussion where we will hear your views. We will think about topics such as your experience of: \n\nFinding information out about Resource Bases\nAsking for a place at a Resource Base for your child\, whether your child got a place or not\nIf your child is currently at a Resource Base how your experience has been so far\, including what you think about the provision available and how the transition to the Resource Base went for your child\nIf your child was previously in a Resource Base and has moved to another setting\n\nYour voice matters and can shape the support available for families like yours – help us make sure it’s heard. \nOur Let’s Talk sessions are interactive\, so we’d appreciate you keeping your camera on (if possible)\, and talking away as much as you’d like! \nAs a thank you for attending and sharing your experiences\, we will send you a £10 voucher. For online sessions\, we will post a voucher to your home address that you provide during Eventbrite booking. You will be asked to re-confirm your home address when you register for the online Zoom session. \nThe Zoom link for this session will be emailed to you by Eventbrite 30 minutes before the session starts. If you cannot make this session but would still like to share your views\, please complete this short survey here: LET’S TALK ABOUT: RESOURCE BASES – Fill out form \n*Please note\, to attend this session you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council)\, or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. You must also have a child with Special Educational Needs\, but they do not need to have a diagnosis.

DESCRIPTION:Find out how Kooth digital platforms support young peoples mental wellbeing\n\n\nWelcome to Mental Health and Wellbeing Support with Kooth (bacp accredited). \nJoin Bristol Parent Carers and and Ellie Siviter from Kooth on Wednesday 20th May at 7PM. \nIn this session we will explore Mental Health and Wellbeing with Kooth and the support they offer young people aged 10-18 yrs old\, on their platform. \nThis session will be recorded so we can share it with other families afterwards\, and so you can revisit it yourself at a later date. Recordings are securely stored and will be available for 60 days. \nKooth is an online platform to help young people with their mental health and wellbeing. It’s a welcoming space for your child to safely explore their feelings. \nIn this session\, we will explore how you can signpost your child to Kooth and how their service works. \nPlaces are free\, but if you’re able to make a small donation to help us continue offering free sessions to as many families as possible\, we’d be incredibly grateful. \n*Please note\, to attend this session for free you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council)\, or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. You must also have a child with Special Educational Needs\, but they do not need to have a diagnosis.
