SUMMARY:Changes to Autism and ADHD support in Bristol (in person venue TBC)
DESCRIPTION:Join Sirona Care and Health to learn about changes to the local Autism and ADHD pathways and waiting lists.\n\n\nWe will explain what is changing\, what it means for families and how children and young people will be able to access support earlier. \nWhat is changing? \n\nA single\, joined-up pathway for Autism and ADHD\nA new Neurodivergent Needs Analysis tool for schools and health professionals\nSupport from a new Neurodiversity Team\, including:\nSpeech and Language Therapists (SLTs)\nOccupational Therapists (OTs)\nEducational Psychologists (EPs)\nOther specialist professionals\n\nThe new approach will focus on understanding a child or young person’s: \n\nStrengths\nNeeds\nDifferences\nThe support that may help them at school\, at home and in everyday life\n\nThe aim is to provide support earlier\, rather than families waiting years for an assessment before help is available. \nWill assessments still happen? \nYes. Autism and ADHD assessments will continue to be available for children and young people who need them. \nWho is this event for? \nThis event is for parent carers (parents and carers of disabled children and young people\, or those with additional needs)\, families and professionals who would like to understand the changes and ask questions. \nThere will be time for questions and discussion. Please note that the team will not be able to answer questions about individual children or young people. \nWhere is this event\, and what time should I arrive? \nWe will update this event with details of the venue as soon as we are able to. Arrival from 9:30am so that we can start at 10am.  \nThe presentation will end at 11am and Bristol Parent Carer Staff will be available for signposting and support until 11:30am.

Transitions can feel big – new routines\, new faces\, new expectations. This session is designed to help parent carers feel informed and prepared for the move into school. \nThis session will be recorded so we can share it with other families afterwards\, and so you can revisit it yourself at a later date. Recordings are securely stored and will be available for 60 days. \nIn this session\, we will cover: \n\nWhat a good transition into Reception should look like\nHow to share important information about your child\nReasonable adjustments and early support\nPractical steps you can take now\nTime for questions and shared discussion.\n\nThis session is for parent carers of children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities) who are moving into Reception this year. \nPlaces are free\, but if you’re able to make a small donation to help us continue offering free sessions to as many families as possible\, we’d be incredibly grateful. \n*Please note\, to attend this session for free you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council)\, or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. You must also have a child with Special Educational Needs\, but they do not need to have a diagnosis.

DESCRIPTION:Peer Support Session for Adoptive\, Special Guardian\, Foster & Kinship Care families who are raising children with SEND.\n\n\nWe’re delighted to host our friendly\, Coffee Mornings in North Bristol — a welcoming\, relaxed space for parent carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to connect\, unwind and feel supported. This session is for Adoptive\, Special Guardian\, Foster & Kinship Care parents and carers. Our friendly team delivering the session all have lived experience in these areas. \nWhether you’re looking for a moment of calm\, and hoping to meet others who truly get it\, you’ll be met with warmth\, understanding and a community that’s here for you. \nAlthough the atmosphere is relaxed and informal\, we do ask that families book a free place via Eventbrite so we can manage numbers and make sure the space is comfortable for everyone. We also know that life as a SEND parent or carer can be unpredictable — if you book and then can’t make it\, please don’t worry. You’re always welcome to join us next time. \nAt each session\, our reps and other local families will be on hand for supportive conversation\, whether you’d like to chat about challenges\, share experiences\, or simply enjoy a quiet moment with others who understand.
