SUMMARY:Short Breaks\, Community Access and Respite Support: all you need to know
DESCRIPTION:Discover short breaks\, respite and community activities\, and how to access the right support for your family.\n\n\nLearn about the different types of short breaks\, community activities and respite support available\, how to access them and what options may be right for your family. \nIn this session\, you will: \n\n Understand the different types of support available.\n Learn how to access short breaks and respite.\n Explore community opportunities.\n Find out where to get further advice.\n\nWho is this session for? \nParent carers of children and young people with SEND. \nAbout the trainer: \nKate Markley leads Bristol City Council’s Disabled Children’s Team\, supporting disabled children\, young people and their families across Bristol. She works with schools\, health services and local organisations to improve support for families. She’ll be joined by a colleague from the Commissioning Team\, who helps plan\, fund and improve services so they meet the needs of disabled children\, young people and their families. \nAbout Bristol Parent Carers: \n \nThis session is part of Bristol Parent Carers’ free programme of information sessions for parent carers of children and young people with SEND or emerging additional needs. \nPlaces are free\, but if you’re able to make a small donation to help us continue offering free sessions to as many families as possible\, we’d be incredibly grateful. \nTo attend this session for free you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council)\, or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. You must also have a child with Special Educational Needs\, but they do not need to have a diagnosis. \nWhen you book\, we’ll ask you 3–5 quick questions related to the session topic. For example\, if you’re booking an EHCP session\, the questions will be about EHCPs. \nYour anonymous responses help Bristol Parent Carers and local partners understand families’ experiences\, identify common challenges\, and improve support and services. \n*Please note*: to attend this session for free you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council)\, or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. You must also have a child with Special Educational Needs\, but they do not need to have a diagnosis.
