This case study shows how parent carers can be supported when a child or young person is out of school.
Bristol Parent Carers worked alongside a family and the SEND Practice Leadership Team to help find a safe and suitable education option for a young person who had been unable to attend school for a long period.
Through peer support, the family felt listened to, supported, and clearer about their options. Working together with services, a more suitable Education Other Than At School package was agreed, helping the young person rebuild trust and prepare for learning again.
This case study shows how partnership working and peer support can make a real difference for families at a difficult time.
