Working together for change

This case study shows how working together with parent carers helped rebuild trust and improves how SEND services can be shaped in Bristol.

After inspections highlighted broken relationships and poor communication with families, Bristol Parent Carers worked with Bristol City Council and health partners to change how local services work with local families. Bristol Parent Carers were involved early, included in key discussions, and helped shape the priorities, language, and design of the Co-Production Charter.

Over time, this will lead to clearer communication, stronger relationships, and real changes such as co-produced strategies and better parent carer involvement in decision-making.

This case study shows how co-production can move from talk to action and create lasting change for families.
