You’ve likely seen the headlines: Bristol is getting 500+ new specialist school places! 🏫
✨ While this is the news we’ve been waiting for, we know you have questions about what it means for your family right now. 💙
Here’s the reality of the 500-Place Plan:
📍 Locations: Big projects are already moving, including Claremont School in Henleaze, the new Briarwood South in Knowle (opening in phases from this Easter!), and Trym Valley Academy in Southmead.
⏳ Timing: It’s a phased journey. Some places are opening very soon, but the full 500-place goal is a long-term plan reaching toward 2030.
📈 Context: The number of children with EHCPs in Bristol has more than doubled since 2018: now over 5,800. This expansion is a vital step in meeting the needs of the community.
We know the wait is hard and the system is overwhelming. This isn’t an overnight fix.
