Bristol Parent Carers is led by and for parent carers in Bristol.
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a chance to hear about what we have been doing, what we have achieved with Bristol families and what we want to do next.
It is also your chance to have a say in how Bristol Parent Carers is run – and this year, we are looking for new trustees to join us.

Whether you have been involved with Bristol Parent Carers for years or have only just found us, you are very welcome.
At the AGM you can:
- hear about the work Bristol Parent Carers has been doing
- find out how we use our funding
- hear about our plans for the year ahead
- meet some of our team and trustees
- vote on important charity decisions (such as new trustees) if you are a member

We are looking for people to join our Board of Trustees and help guide the future of Bristol Parent Carers.
Trustees work as a team to guide the charity. They check that money is spent well, help us achieve our goals and help us make good decisions for the future.
Together, trustees:
- help set the direction of the charity
- make sure Bristol Parent Carers stays true to its purpose
- check that money and resources are being used properly
- support and challenge the senior leadership team that runs the charity
- help us think about risks and opportunities
- make sure the charity is well governed
- bring different experiences, ideas and perspectives to our decisions
You don’t need to be an expert
People can sometimes see the word trustee and think they need lots of board experience, professional qualifications or knowledge of charity law.
You don’t.
Some skills and experience can be useful, but lived experience, curiosity, good judgement and a willingness to contribute are valuable too.
Our Board should reflect all the families we help. These voices are not always heard when SEND choices are made. We want this to change. We welcome every BPC member to apply.
We are keen to hear from parent carers from Global Majority groups. This means Black, Asian, mixed heritage and other ethnic groups.
You will be part of a team and will have support and training to understand the role.
