New to Neurodivergence: 4 week Information & Support Group

Learn about neurodivergence in children and young people, including common strengths, challenges and differences in how children may experience the world.
These sessions will help you better understand your child’s needs and explore practical strategies to support them at home, in school and in everyday life.
You are expected to attend all sessions which will be split over 4 weeks:
Week 1 Thursday 5th November 9.30-12.30 Understanding SEND/neurodivergence & Navigating Services
Week 2 Thursday 12th November 9.30-12.30 Supporting Overwhelm & Distress
Week 3 Thursday 19th November Sensory Processing
Week 4 – Thursday 26th November Anxiety & Communication
In these sessions, you will:
- Understand what neurodivergence means.
- Learn about common strengths and challenges.
- Explore how neurodivergence may affect daily life, learning and emotions.
- Find out practical ways to support your child.
- Connect with other parents and carers in a safe and supportive local environment.
- Receive appropriate signposting and connecting to local services.
Who is this session for?
Parent carers of children and young people who are neurodivergent, may be neurodivergent, or are waiting for assessment. This covers autism and ADHD. There is no cost and you do not need a diagnosis.
About the trainer:
This session is delivered by Jade Page, founder of The Autism Page and an experienced parent support practitioner. Jade has over 10 years’ experience supporting families of autistic children through training, courses, one-to-one support and practical resources.
Jade previously worked as Parent Support Manager at Bristol Autism Support and has delivered training for organisations including Autism Central, Bristol Autism Team and Neurodiverse Training. She combines professional expertise with lived experience as the parent of two autistic children, sharing practical, evidence-informed strategies that families can use in everyday life.

This session is part of Bristol Parent Carers’ free programme of information sessions for parent carers of children and young people with SEND or emerging additional needs.
Places are free, but if you’re able to make a small donation to help us continue offering free sessions to as many families as possible, we’d be incredibly grateful.
To attend this session for free you must live in Bristol (your bin will be collected by Bristol City Council), or your child must attend a school in the Bristol city area. You must also have a child with Special Educational Needs, but they do not need to have a diagnosis.
When you book, we’ll ask you 3–5 quick questions related to the session topic. For example, if you’re booking an EHCP session, the questions will be about EHCPs.
