Working together for families

Thank you to the SEND organisations who joined our Friends of the Forum meeting on 25th September at St Anne’s House 🙏

We heard from local SEND organisations about the challenges families are facing, including:
 💡 Navigating social care
💡 Getting good SEND support in schools
💡 Transitions and the difficulties they bring
 💡 Cultural and language barriers
💡 Autism and ADHD diagnosis wait times and Right to Choose options
💡 The isolation that so many families face – especially those who have children with complex needs

Together we’re working on solutions:
✅ Ensuring more families understand the social care offer
✅ Developing tools for families to understand what they should expect from their child’s education setting
✅ A coproduction project on transitions with Bristol City Council (share your views here: https://bit.ly/4mHnYO3)
✅ New resources with Somali & Polish translations and more in-person support for those with English as an additional language
✅ A video and leaflet explaining the Right to Choose for families and an update on current waiting times
✅ Improved promotion of the new Navigation and Nurture sessions for families of children with complex needs hosted by the brilliant @murmuration community therapy
