How Bristol Parent Carers can support you
At a glance
Bristol Parent Carers provides information, support and opportunities to connect for families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
You do not need a diagnosis to get in touch, and you do not need to know exactly what support you need.
How we can help
Families contact us for lots of different reasons. You might be trying to understand what support is available, looking for information about SEND, struggling with something at school or simply not know where to start.
Our parent information leaflet explains the different ways you can get support from Bristol Parent Carers, including:
- information and signposting
- peer support and opportunities to meet other parent carers
- workshops, events and information sessions
- help finding relevant local services and support
- opportunities to share your experiences and help shape SEND services in Bristol
What happens when you contact us?
You can simply tell us what is happening for your family.
We will listen, help you work out what information or support might be useful and, where needed, point you towards other organisations or services that can help.
We are parent carers ourselves, so we understand that navigating SEND can sometimes feel complicated.
Your experiences matter
As well as supporting families, Bristol Parent Carers is Bristol’s Parent Carer Forum.
We listen to what families tell us, identify common issues and use this information when working with education, health and social care services to help improve support across Bristol.
