Video on demand now available | BPC Annual Event 2021

On 11th March 2021, Bristol Parent Carers held its first online annual event. Having never organised a virtual event before, this was a first for us and due to technology, it was not without its challenges.

The aim of the event was to try to present a series of short presentations to help begin to give more of an understanding about some of the services available within the Local Offer. All presenters were asked to talk about who is eligible for the service they were describing, what the service does, and how the service is accessed. The presenters kindly used this as a guide in structuring the sessions they presented.

We were at the mercy of technology and unfortunately, we experienced some challenges on the day. One of the greatest issues we discovered was that our virtual platform limited the number of attendees and we quickly reached a point where people were not able to join. This was incredibly embarrassing for us and we can only express our sincerest apologies that issues with technology created this barrier. We worked behind the scenes to resolve the issue and a couple of presentations in, the problem was fixed and more attendees were able to join.

Unfortunately, the presenter of the Early Years workshop experienced technology issues that prevented her from joining to present her workshop. Our Interim Chair did his best to read through the Early Years slides, and fortunately, the presenter of the Early Years presenter was able to join later in the morning and presented her workshop at the end of the session.

All workshops were recorded so if you were unable to join us on the day, you can access all the presentations and watch at a time to suit you. BPC would like to express our thanks to all presenters who gave their time to support our event.
